The Many Deaths of Gambit

Throughout all of the many Marvel universes Gambit has died many times, and this page chronicals those deaths.

Age of Apocalypse 1995: Issue 6: Page 9: During a fight with Sinister and his minions Remy, Nightcrawler and Dazzler were absorbed by Cloak. Nightcrawler and Dazzler managed to escape when Storm struck him with lightning, however Remy was left behind and never recovered.

Gambit and Bishop: Sons of the Atom: Issue Alpha: Page 12: While Bishop was inhabited by the Bete Noir he had visions of the future. Within that future Remy, one of the few X-Men to not have been corrupted, was killed by Iceman.

What if(v2): Issue 106 What if the X-Men had Sentenced Gambit to Death: Page 27 After having left him in Antarctica Psylocke and Archangel weren't satisfied with Remy's punishment and hunted him down. Archangel challenged Remy to a fight, which Remy lost and he was exiled from the X-men, however Marrow had found out about Remy's involvement in the Morlock Massacre and killed him anyway.

What if(v2): Issue 100 The Greatest Secret of the X-Men Revealed: Page 20 After being left in Antarctica Remy went back to working for Sinister, in an attempt to get an elixir that would allow Rogue to touch him. He got the elixir and Rogue took it before they kissed. However Sinister had lied, and Rogue absorbed Remy, killing him.

Ultimate X-Men: Annual 1: Page 33: Remy and Rogue, now working together after Rogue left the X-Men, had a run in with the Juggernaut. Although Remy managed to stop the Juggernaut it resulted in a building being dropped on him. Dying he asked Rogue to absorb him and she agreed.

X-Treme X-Men: Issue 18: Page 21: After having served as the power supply for an interdimensional portal and having been stabbed through the heart by Vargas, Remy's soul slipped away from his body. His soul went to a version of his ancestral home, and waited their for Rogue, who dragged him back to life before he could go to heaven. Although he was bought back to life he was still dead for a time.

X-Men The End: Men and X-Men: Issue 3: Page 6: Initially impersonating his father, Sinister, Remy battled Kahn on the Shi'ar homeworld. He gave everything to kill Kahn and get revenge for Rogue, who had been killed previously, even though this resulted in his death.

eXiles: Issue 45: Page 16: Originally a member of Weapon X, the more ruthless of the two reality hopping teams, Remy lost an arm in a fight with Hyperion, the self-styled and psychopathic leader of Weapon X. He then joined the eXiles to defeat Weapon X and sacrificed his life to kill Hyperion by charging Illyana's sword and stabbing him.

Mutant X: Annual 2000: Page 18: On a pinch with his partner and lover Bloodstorm, who had been infected with vampirism several years previously by Dracula, Remy was fatally injured by the Fallen. Dying he begged Bloodstorm to save his life and turn him, which she reluctantly did. This ended Remy's life and made him one of the undead.

Marvel Zombies: Issue 3: Page 6: It started with a flash in the sky and a ripple through the clouds. The hunger came to feed, and feed it did until the Marvel Heroes were no more. They were replaced by soulless monsters, driven only by an insatiable hunger for human flesh. Remy became a hungering zombie, much like many of the other Marvel Heroes. His zombie self was then killed by the Silver Surfer, who knocked his head off.

Marvel Universe The End: Issue 1: Page 18: In the alternate future of Marvel Universe, The End all of the Earth's heroes, including the X-Men, are murdered by the seemingly omnipotent Pharaoh Akhenaten, who had returned to conquer Earth as the appointed representative of the organisation known as the Celestial Order.

Gambit Monthly Series: 2000 Annual: Page 12: Seen dead in many of the alternate worlds that Quiet Bill opened viewing portals to, often with the spear of the King of the Old Kingdom piercing him.

Millenial Visions 2000 - "Magnificent 7":To finally destroy the Sentinals the X-Men lured them to a winner-takes-all battle. Things didn't go to plan, and the X-Men ran until they were cornered, before standing their ground and fighting the horror of the Sentinals. After the battle, through the smoke and devestation, seven figures stood tall of the many that had been part of the battle. Remy was not one of those seven.

X-Men(v2): Issue 185 onwards: All pages: Well this is called the many Deaths of Gambit, and this is the biggest of them all. Remy has been turned into Death, the Horseman of Apocalypse, and given an all new look. His whereabouts, and whether or not he has been able to shake off Apocalypse's brainwashing remain unknown.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance: This was previously an unconfirmed death, however we now have a clear image and Remy is indeed dead. In this image of Dr Doom walking through his citadel after having defeated all of Earth's Superheroes Remy is among the fallen, in the lower right corner.

Weapon X: Days of Future Now: Issue 2 Killed by the Sentinals after having been captured with the rest of the X-Men during the Days of Future Now timeline.
