![]() | Belladonna Boudreaux BiographyRemy first met Belladonna while he was still a street rat. While roof combing he saw what appeared to be an innocent young girl about to walk into an Assassin trap and leapt to her rescue, not realizing that she was the daughter of the Assassin Patriarch and more than capable of defending herself. They struck up a friendship and this carried on even after Remy was adopted by Jean-Luc LeBeau and taken into the Thieves Guild. It is important to mention that it is unknown how much of this first meeting was coincidence and how much of it was arranged by Jean-Luc, as hinted at by Fontanelle while she was in Jean-Luc's dreamscape. Despite the fact that they were members of warring Guilds, Belladonna and Remy's relationship developed past friendship and they became childhood sweethearts, much to Belladonna's father's disgust. Marius often forbade her to visit or go out with Remy, which she rebelled against, and his statement were echoed by her brother Julien. Eventually Jean-Luc and Marius, both tired of the fighting and killing that was ripping their Guilds apart, decided to broker a peace deal. To seal this deal it was decided that Remy and Belladonna would marry. Although this event was supposed to be the start of a new, peaceful age for the Guilds it just brought more tragedy. Julien, who not only didn't want peace between the Guilds but also didn't believe Remy was good enough for his sister, challenged Remy to a duel just after the vows were exchanged. Having no choice Remy accepted and killed Julien, leading to his banishment from the Thieves, New Orleans and his new wife in order to preserve the fragile peace. Years later Belladonna tracked Remy down to the Xavier Mansion, where she asked for his help in what seemed to be a Guild war. She seemed to harbor Remy no ill feelings despite their history together, and she and Rogue actually spent time together discussing the man they both loved. The Guild war was in fact an attack the Brood, which Belladonna and the X-Men set out to foil. After confessing that she still loved Remy Belladonna seemed to die having spent her powers to destroy the aliens and save the lives of the Guild children. Belladonna hadn't died however and was in fact left in a coma. When Remy was called back to New Orleans for the Tithing time he went against both of the Guilds and Candra to get her the Elixir of Life from the Thieves Guild and restore her life. While Remy was doing this Rogue was looking after Belladonna and accidentally absorbed a large chunk of her memories, leaving her unable to remember Remy, her family or much of anything when she woke. Remy left her once again, this time in the care of her family. When Belladonna eventually did remember she blamed Rogue and Remy for her lack of emotions and the vagueness of the memories. She had in the meantime become leader of the Assassins Guild, her father having died under mysterious circumstances, and with the resources that she could now she arranged for the kidnap of Cody, Rogue's first boyfriend. This was an attempt to lure both Rogue and Remy to New Orleans to get revenge and was based on a suggestion by Candra, who also wanted revenge against Remy. Belladonna was ultimately defeated by Rogue however, and left alone in New Orleans when the X-Men returned home. Belladonna later took a contract that was offered on Remy's life, although she soon confessed that she had done so not to kill him but to work out whether or not she still loved him. After working together to defeat the rest of the hitmen sent after Remy they agreed to settle their differences and, as leaders of their respective Guilds, unified the Guilds with Belladonna as Remy's second-in-command. Most recently Belladonna was dating Bandit, who was a freelance thief, although she broke it off with him when she found out that he was not only cheating on her but trying to gain control of the Unified Guilds. |
